Jonathan Moorman

The Jonathan Moorman Band is a contemporary folk instrumental group.  It is led by the violin playing of Jonathan Moorman and the guitar and flute of David Gossage, and its mandate is to present traditional music in a modern, accessible setting.  Driven by percussion and inspired by dance, this band plays material ranging from Celtic jigs and reels to Romanian gypsy tunes, through French bourrees to Arabic, Klezmer, and bluegrass tunes.

Dave Gossage

flutes, whistles, guitar

Dave comes from Montreal, and has been a mainstay on the city’s jazz and Celtic scenes for many years.  He has recorded and toured with innumerable artists, won Juno and Felix awards for composition and arrangement, and has founded several world-renowned bands, including Orealis and Tuna.

Niko Motzeri

Percussion, flutes, bouzouki

Niko represents the driving rhythm of the JMB, adding djembe, darbuka, and conga beats to the tunes.  His musical influences are extremely diverse, and his playing brings elements of Middle Eastern, Eastern European, and Indian styles to the sound.
Niko has played with many different bands in Israel, India, Hungary, and Canada, and he appreciates the potential for blending Celtic music with unusual beats.

Anna Moorman

From Victoria, BC,  Anna is classically trained.  She adds a
captivating, sophisticated sound to  JMB.

Sean Dagher

We're not sure where Sean is from, but Jonathan tried him out and said - "can't let this one go. He's too good. He's a keeper"
