MagnaTech opened its doors in 1989, in Montreal, designing systems for point-of-sale and back office database management, as well as targeted marketing systems. In 1992 the company began developing a family of software products for the travel agency. This was a challenging environment, with a high volume of transactions and an unusually fast pace of work, placing a strong demand on software systems and technical support. From the very start, MagnaTech partnered with agencies. Instead of off-the-shelf products, MagnaTech's business solutions are shrink-wrapped around real agency needs. As a result, several agencies that started with the company are still clients after two decades. In late 2006 and early 2007 a new generation of hosted systems came out of our labs. These new programs are hybrids of desktop and Internet server technology, allowing us to evolve along with the travel industry and to adapt the software to the ever-changing world in which we live. They focus on reducing the cost of serving the corporate client, as well as introducing exceptional marketing capabilities in our document delivery and reporting systems. MagnaTech's only customer is the travel professional. Whenever the role of the travel agency came under attack, so did MagnaTech's future and it became logical for MagnaTech to design 'survival' tools for agencies. Corporate activity, though not hugely rewarding, provides a 'forecastable' income. It became evident that existing products were priced out of reach of the middle-sized agency, and MagnaTech set out to create a range of accessibly priced systems. The resulting products are low cost and are designed to enhance image and increase sales. As an example, while doing document or report delivery, our system will cross-market the agency's leisure products to its corporate travelers.
